Dartmoor Zoo is a unique and welcoming, family owned zoo with a fantastic collection of animals and the widest variety of big cats in the south west. Just on the outskirts of Plymouth, it is set in 33 acres of beautiful countryside. The animals include lions, tigers and bears (oh my) as well as jaguar, lynx and cheetah, wolves, tapir, capybara, racoons, meerkats, monkeys, deer, owls, ostrich, lechwe, and a fantastic collection of bugs and reptiles.
Soon to be the subject of a Hollywood movie ‘We Bought A Zoo‘ directed by Cameron Crowe, and starring Matt Damon and Scarlett Johansson. The story behind Dartmoor Zoo is fascinating.
