Horseshoe Cottage is a cosy cottage but with an open plan spacious atmosphere. The downstairs has a lounge with 2 comfy sofas, television and woodburner, rugs on the floor and a basket of logs provided (at all times of year!) There is a dining area with table and 4 chairs, with a small downstairs toilet under the stairs. The large open plan kitchen means that you can cook but still be part of all that is going on in the cottage! The newly fitted kitchen is equipped with everything you could wish for, with large fridge with small freezer compartment. Follow the handmade wooden staircase up to two cosy wooden beamed bedrooms; one twin and one double, plus newly fitted family bathroom with tiles, large basin, bath and shower. There is underfloor heating throughout the cottage.

Whilst converting the cottages we wanted to keep as many original features of the stone barn as we could; hence the open plan rooms to ensure you feel the character of the ancient barn, with original beams and a small amount of retained stone wall, plus latch doors throughout. Outside there is a pebbled patio with outdoor chairs and table, plus a grassy garden area for playing with shrubs and the original Tuell Farm well (water not accessible). (“Tuell” means “two wells”)

The Name “Horseshoe Cottage” came about from the rare Horseshoe Bat that has been seen in our barns and along this part of the Tamar Valley. The cottages have been fitted with bat holes in the roof and gaps in the lintels so that any bats that might be around can still roost. (But don’t worry you are unlikely to see one without a bat detector!) Our land is full of wildlife with summer nesting swallows, chattering jackdaws, buzzards, rabbits, voles and deer in the fields and sightings of many rare birds including goldfinches, goldcrest, sparrow hawks, spotted flycatchers, nuthatches and longtailed tits.

You are welcome to walk in our fields and orchard, swing on the rope swing over the stream, fuss the animals and see the wild flower meadows we are hoping to create.
