Fig Tree Cottage is our larger cottage, that has a beautiful hallway with galleried wooden staircase, so that you really feel the atmosphere of the original barn. The entrance hall has small sofa and bean bags for informal relaxing, with desk and bookcase. Understairs toilet and spiralling stairs to upstairs gallery. Perfect space for children to relax away from lounge or kitchen. To the left is a large brand new kitchen with wooden breakfast table and chairs. The kitchen is equipped with everything you could wish for including large fridge with small freezer compartment. Tiles are finished with glass inset from local Cornish glass maker.
To the right of the hallway is a very cosy sitting room with 2 sofas, television, coffee table, rug, and woodburner, with one basket of logs provided (all year round!). A perfect place to snuggle up with a good book!
Follow the stairs up to the wooden gallery and views across neighbouring fields, and window sills to sit on, with unique special door leading to outdoor staircase. Main double bedroom on right; very spacious room with original wooden floor boards, rug, and ensuite toilet and shower. Wardrobe, chest of drawers and double bed. Main family bathroom with large basin, loo, shower and bath is across the gallery, plus 2 twin bedrooms, with wooden beams, and cosy windows. One with carpet and one with wooden floor boards and rug.

Whilst converting the cottages we wanted to keep as many original features of the stone barn as we could; hence the galleried staircase to give a wonderful feeling of space, and small little openings and quirks of the original ancient barn have been retained. Original beams, floor boards and a small amount of retained stone wall have been kept, plus latch doors throughout. Underfloor heating upstairs and downstairs makes this cottage warm all year round!

Outside there is a pebbled patio with outdoor chairs and table, plus a grassy garden area for playing with mature fig tree, hence the name of this cottage.

The cottages have been fitted with bat holes in the roof and gaps in the lintels so that any bats that might be around can still roost. (But don’t worry you are unlikely to see one without a bat detector!) Our land is full of wildlife with summer nesting swallows, chattering jackdaws, buzzards, rabbits, voles and deer in the fields and sightings of many rare birds including goldfinches, goldcrest, sparrow hawks, spotted flycatchers, nuthatches and longtailed tits.

You are welcome to walk in our fields and orchard, swing on the rope swing over the stream, fuss the animals and see the wild flower meadows we are hoping to create.
